Champions (Intermediate & Advanced) The Next Step in Your Child's Martial Arts Journey

From Beginners to Leaders – Helping Children Progress and Grow Beyond the Basics

The Champions program at Phoenix Martial Arts is designed for children who have graduated from our Warriors (4-7) and Titans (8-12) beginner classes and are ready for the next stage of their martial arts journey.

This program provides age-appropriate, challenging classes tailored for intermediate and advanced students. It’s the natural next step for children who are ready to expand their skills, build resilience, and step into greater responsibility.

When Do Children Join Champions?

Every child progresses at their own pace, but most students move into the Champions program between 1 year and 2.5 years after starting their beginner classes.

Progression depends on:
✅ Age & maturity
✅ Skill development
✅ Frequency of training
✅ Readiness for new challenges

This ensures that children enter the Champions program when they are truly ready to benefit from the increased challenge and responsibility.

What Champions Focus On

Our Champions classes are designed to push students further, building on their strong foundations from Warriors and Titans:

🥋 Advanced Techniques & Combinations – More complex skills that challenge balance, coordination, and timing.
🥋
Higher-Level Fitness Training – Building strength, stamina, and flexibility to support advanced martial arts performance.
🥋
Deeper Focus & Discipline – Training with more precision and attention to detail, learning to spot and correct small mistakes.
🥋
Goal-Setting & Resilience – Working toward higher belt levels teaches perseverance and determination.
🥋
Leadership Skills – Many children at this stage begin to develop leadership qualities, supporting newer students and acting as positive role models.

Junior Leadership Academy

Children who demonstrate potential and interest in leadership may be invited to join our Junior Leadership Academy. This special opportunity allows students to:

✅Assist instructors in class

✅Develop public speaking and coaching skills

✅Gain confidence in working with others

✅Build responsibility and pride in their achievements

This program is an exciting way for children to take their first steps into leadership, preparing them for opportunities both inside and outside of martial arts.

Why Champions Matter

The Champions program ensures that your child never “outgrows” their martial arts training. Instead, they continue to be challenged, supported, and inspired at every stage of their development. From beginner to advanced student, from learner to leader, Phoenix Martial Arts provides a pathway that grows with your child.

Continued Growth Into Teenage Years

As children grow, their martial arts journey doesn’t stop at Champions. Those who reach their teenage years are able to transition into our Legends program, designed specifically for teenagers and adults. This provides continuity and development throughout their entire martial arts journey with Phoenix Martial Arts.

WHAT PARENTS SAY

Phoenix Martial Arts has been incredible for both my (teenage) boys, not just for their fitness and giving them an after-school hobby, but it has helped to develop their self-confidence as well as their leadership abilities.

Del

Such a fantastic place for a kid to grow and develop great keys skills, in confidence, commitment and leadership skills. There are children at the club with ADHD, Autism, and the progress they have over months or years is extraordinary.

FAQS

1. What should my child wear for their first class?

Comfortable clothing that allows freedom of movement is fine for the first few classes. A uniform can be purchased if they decide to continue. And it's always a good idea to bring a drink.

2. Do parents need to stay and watch?

While parents are welcome to watch, and encouraged to from our dedicated private viewing room, it's not mandatory. Many children gain independence and confidence by participating on their own.

3. What if my child is nervous about starting?

Many children are nervous initially, but our instructors are experienced in helping shy kids feel comfortable and build confidence.
